For two years Jo and his partner have lived off-grid in a Tiny House in the forest of Wageningen. They wanted to experience first-hand what it means to live without using electricity, water or sewage facilities. The tiny house in which they lived had solar panels and a windmill for power. Biodegradable waste was recycled into fertilizer.

The NetAidKit is a small, open source, portable router that was developed to help journalists anywhere in the world to be able to get access to the uncensored internet at any time. In 2015 this project won the ISOC Innovation Award. Over 1000 units were sold and distributed to users and journalists.
In its final development phase, Kingly was one of the two software developers behind this project. At that time Free Press Unlimited sought to use onion routing technology in order to empower journalists all over the world, and the project was finalized in 2017.
